Scales & Arpeggios

Do mi sol do do sol mi do
Every truly cultured music student knows
You must learn your scales and your arpeggios
Bring the music ringing from your chest
And not your nose
While you sing your scales and your arpeggios.

If your faithful to your daily practicing
You will find you progress is encouraging
Do mi so mi do me so mi fa la so it goes
When you do your scales and your arpeggios.

do mi sol do do sol mi do
do mi sol do do sol mi do
Though at first it seems as though it doesn't show
Like a tree ability will bloom and grow
If you're smart you'll learn by heart what every artist knows
Your must sing your scales
And your arpeggios!

Do- Re-Mi

This is one of the songs that the students will be performing. They will sing in English and in Spanish, you will find the lyrics and a video and you child can sing-along =)

Let's start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you read you begin with A-B-C
When you sing you begin with do-re-mi

Do-re-mi, do-re-mi
The first three notes just happen to be
Do-re-mi, do-re-mi

[Maria:]
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
[spoken]
Let's see if I can make it easy

Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do (oh-oh-oh)

[Maria and Children:]
[Repeat above verse twice]

[Maria:]
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do
So-do!

[Maria: (spoken)]
Now children, do-re-mi-fa-so and so on
are only the tools we use to build a song.
Once you have these notes in your heads,
you can sing a million different tunes by mixing them up.
Like this.

So Do La Fa Mi Do Re
[spoken]
Can you do that?
[Children:]
So Do La Fa Mi Do Re
[Maria:]
So Do La Ti Do Re Do
[Children:]
So Do La Ti Do Re Do
[Maria:]
[spoken]
Now, put it all together.

[Maria and Children:]
So Do La Fa Mi Do Re, So Do La Ti Do Re Do
[Maria:]
[spoken]
Good!
[Brigitta:]
[spoken]
But it doesn't mean anything.
[Maria:]
[spoken]
So we put in words. One word for every note. Like this.

When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything
[spoken]
Together!

[Maria and Children:]
When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything

Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do
Do Ti La So Fa Mi Re

[Children:]
Do Mi Mi
Mi So So
Re Fa Fa
La Ti Ti
[Repeat above verse 4x as Maria sings]

[Maria:]
When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything

[Maria and Children:]
Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to

[Maria:]
[Children:]

Do . . . So Do
Re . . . La Fa
Mi . . . Mi Do
Fa . . . Re
So . . . So Do
La . . . La Fa
Ti . . . La So Fa Mi Re
Ti Do - oh - oh Ti Do -- So Do

Spanish

Do- un don un gran señor
Re- un rey encantador
Mi- mi amor es para ti
Fa- es facil recordar
Sol- que brilla y da calor
La- si cantas tralala
S-i es una afirmacion y volvames con el do

Be Still and Know

"Be Still and Know That I am God"
Based on Psalm 46:10-11

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am God.
I will be exalted,
I will be exalted,
I will be exalted in the earth.

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am God.
I will be exalted,
I will be exalted,
I will be exalted in the earth.

I am always with you.
I will be your strength.
I am always with you.
I will be your strength.

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am God.
I will be exalted,
I will be exalted,
I will be exalted in the earth.

I will be exalted in the earth.

You Are My Shelter

"You Are My Shelter"

When I'm feeling down,
like no one's around,
and it's hard to smile,
when the rainy days
drive the sun away,
I can count on You.

You are my Shelter,
You are my Hide away,
You are my Covering,
You keep me safe.

You are my Harbor,
You are my Quiet Place,
You are my Refuge
and my Strength,
You are my Shelter.

When the wind blows strong
and I can't hold on,
You keep holding on to me.

You are my Shelter,
You are my Hide away,
You are my Covering,
You keep me safe.

You are my Harbor,
You are my Quiet Place,
You are my Refuge
and my Strength.

You are my Shelter.
You are my Shelter.
You are my Shelter.
You are my Shelter.

Noche de paz, noche de amor.
Todo duerme en derredor
Entre los astros que esparce su luz,
Bella anunciando al niñito Jesús
Brilla la estrella de paz,
Brilla la estrella de paz.

(English)
Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright,
Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Sleep in heavenly peace.

All Things are Posible

Pray ev’ry day. May ev’ry day
Be the very best day it can be.
Give ev’ry day. Live ev’ry day.
God can make your dreams reality.

And don’t wait around for tomorrow,
And don’t let your dreams disappear.
No, don’t wait around for tomorrow.
The time for tomorrow is here!

And all things are possible
It’s all possible
With God’s guidance and love
And His help from above.
All is possible. Nothing’s impossible.
He created you, and his promises
All are true!

Let us walk in the light of the Lord

Let Us Walk in the Light of the Lord

Let Us Walk in the Light of the Lord - Audio

When the first sunrise awoke all creation
God smile and declare this is good
Sun bringing brightness
Light spilling from heaven
God’s touching all that it could

Let us walk, let us walk, let us walk, let us walk
Let us walk in the light of the Lord
Feel God’s love shinning in us,
around us and through us
let us walk in the light of the Lord.

When you see someone who seems sad and lonely
And needed a friend just like you
God gives you guidance to light up the darkness
God’s love touching others through you.

Let us walk, let us walk, let us walk, let us walk
Let us walk in the light of the Lord
Let us walk, let us walk, let us walk, let us walk
Let us walk in the light of the Lord
Feel God’s love shinning in us,
around us and through us
let us walk in the light of the Lord
Feel God’s love shinning in us,
around us and through us
let us walk, let us walk,
let us walk in the light of the Lord

Slide show of Pre-K & K

With the Pre-K & Kinder we are learning to read rhythms.  We use deferents instruments to make it more fun.  The kids already know how to read the quarter notes, eight notes & quarter rest.

I'm so proud of my students, they are very musical.  They can repeat any rhythm that I play and read the rhythm cards.

Here are some pictures. In the song "It Is Good to Give Thanks to the Lord" we are singing to play with the Psaltery, Lyre & Harp, so the kids learn what those instruments are and also colored.

Just click the play button and wait until it upload the slideshow.  Enjoy!!!
